Geierlay Suspension Rope Bridge

On the most beautiful suspension rope bridge in Germany in the Hunsrück! On 3 October 2015, Germany’s longest suspension rope bridge, the Geierlay suspension rope bridge, was opened in Hunsrück until May 2017.

Steepest vineyard in Europe – Bremmer Calmont

The village is best known for the Moselschleife, which is even on German Post Office stamps. The viewpoint is about 10 minutes away from the centre of the village. The Bremmer Calmont is the steepest vineyard site in Europe with a height of 378 metres and a gradient of 65 degrees. The via ferrata there is a highlight of the hiking trails on the Moselle.

Stella Noviomagi – Neumagen Dhron

In what is claimed to be Germany’s oldest wine village, Roman history is revived through a special experience on the Moselle. Just as it did 2,000 years ago, the Roman wine ship STELLA NOVIOMAGI still departs here today for trips on the Moselle and you can be there as a visitor. As in many other Moselle towns, Neumagen-Dhron also has the popular Straußwirtschaften (wine taverns) where you can taste the wine directly from the winegrower.

Fell Visitor Mine

70 metres underground, you will experience the world of mining in the “Barbara” and “Hoffnung” galleries in a one-hour guided tour. You will see slagheaps, mining chambers and demonstrations of old techniques. There is also an exhibition above ground and plenty to discover, and you can fortify yourself in the “WeinStein” mine bistro.

On the winding and 1,356 m long summer toboggan run, you can go down the mountain at speeds of up to 42 km/h.

Here you can discover, climb and experience. A total of 6 courses with heights between 3 and 14 metres as well as a Flying Fox course with long ropeways and a 180m flight offer lots of fun.
Trailpark
In the “Trailpark”, newly built in 2018, two mountain bike downhill tracks lead you down the mountain. On slopes of various degrees of difficulty, you go “downhill”.
In winter
The highest mountain (816 metres) and also the best skiing area in Rhineland-Palatinate. Three lifts, cross-country ski trails, floodlit ski, toboggan hill, snow cannons, umbrella bar and restaurant.

Cochem Bundesbank Bunker

Visit the former secret bunker of the German Bundesbank in Cochem – for decades one of the best-kept secrets of the FRG. Built to survive a nuclear war, 15 billion DM of a secret emergency currency were stored here during the Cold War.

Eltz Castle

Perhaps the most famous castle in Germany north of Neuschwanstein. The residential towers are 8-35 metres high, the castle is located in the nature reserve “Elzer Wald” where there are also varied hiking and walking trails. The castle – which, by the way, was never forcibly conquered – has been privately owned for 800 years and can be visited from spring to autumn.
The inner courtyard, the armoury and treasure chamber and the many castle halls are particularly interesting.

Geyser Andernach
